Contest of Speed — The Foundation Behind Kion Racing

Before Kion Racing existed, there was Contest of Speed.

Contest of Speed is the foundation on which Kion Racing was built and remains a major part of the passion, community, and competitive spirit that drives our team today. Without Contest of Speed, Kion Racing would never have been created.

Founded in 2017 as a European Formula 1 sim racing league, Contest of Speed quickly evolved into an international community of racing enthusiasts united by a shared passion for Formula 1 and sim racing. In 2019, the league expanded into the American region, marking the beginning of a worldwide journey that continues to grow every season.

Today, Contest of Speed operates multiple European and American tiers, bringing together drivers from across the globe in highly competitive, professionally organized Formula 1 racing leagues. With the upcoming season marking Season 17, the league continues to provide structured competition for drivers of all skill levels across both continents.

The creation of Kion Racing came naturally from this environment. As the owner of Contest of Speed had less time available to commit to fixed league racing schedules, the focus gradually shifted toward endurance racing and team-based competition within iRacing. From that transition, Kion Racing was born.

While Kion Racing focuses on endurance racing and professional team competition, Contest of Speed remains the heart of the community that started it all—a place where drivers, supporters, and sim racing enthusiasts come together every week to share their passion for racing.

Contest of Speed is more than a league. It is the origin of Kion Racing, the backbone of our community, and a continuing symbol of the passion that fuels everything we do today.
